A Note from the Executive Director

Welcome to our website!  There’s a lot to discover here about this extra-ordinary mountain top called Solgohachia.  Our hope is that through what you see here, you’ll come to the same conclusion we have: there is something about this mountain!

Solgohachia has a rich history of being the backdrop for so many people of all ages experiencing and encountering God.  Here’s how we describe what we’re all about:

After serving on the board of directors, John became Solgohachia’s executive director in 2010.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Arkansas and a master’s degree in Philosophy of Religion, Apologetics and Ethics from Denver Seminary.  John’s ministry leadership background spans 30 years and includes camp, broadcasting, writing, speaking, and lobbying with Focus on the Family and the Arkansas Family Council.  He lives at Solgohachia with his wife, Alfie and their three children, Jake, Audrey and Grace.

Solgohachia is an extra-ordinary, year-round Christian camp and retreat experience for individuals, families and groups.  Our culture is rooted in the values of Christ and His Kingdom.  Our passion for Christ, love or people, Spirit-driven creativity, and commitment to excellence, provides the backdrop for you to experience and encounter God.

We do this through our incredible summer camps, powerful student discipleship retreats, transforming parent-child weekends, faith-building women’s and men’s retreats, visionary staff getaways, and worry-free, turnkey facility rentals.

Centrally located on a remote, beautiful mountaintop in the heart of Arkansas, Solgohachia does it all, all year long.

Have a look through the website, and if there are any questions we can answer for you, or if we can serve you in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

It’s our desire that you’ll become one of the tens of thousands who’ve made Solgohachia a destination for enjoying and encountering God.

Sincerely,

John Thomas
